**Supporting VBAC
Safely : a review of the evidence and labor support techniques for
nurses**
Come spend a half day learning about the latest research and NIH recommendations
as well as massage, aromatherapy to support women with a history of a cesearan
in labor!

In honor of all the
dedicated work you do every day, the UMHS Nurse-Midwifery Service and the Terri
Murtland Lectureship and Education
Series are sponsoring this half day educational experience.
We have an exciting line-up of speakers and also plenty of time for practicing
hands on skills.
Topics and speakers:
*A review of the literature supporting VBAC, including the recent NIH consensus
report Mary Barger, CNM, MPH, PhD (visiting 2010 Terri Murtland lecturer
from UC San Francisco)
*a perinatologist's perspective on VBAC: Cosmas Van de Ven, MD
*Addressing women's fear, anxiety and need for control during labor Lisa
Kane-Low, CNM PhD, FACNM
*Aromatherapy
in labor for comfort care and progression Joan Dushane, RN
*Labor massage- techniques and hands-on practice to get women through one
contraction at a time, Kate Stroud, LMT, DONA
The conference is
also open to other nurses and community members who work with childbearing
women.
